Lynn Buell, LICSW
Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis
Lynn Buell practices psychotherapy and psychoanalysis with adults, adolescents and children at her office on North Capital Hill. She has served on the clinical faculty of the Core Program on Adult Psychoanalysis (SPSI) and the Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Program (CAPP) of SPSI since 2001. Ms. Buell has served on the Curriculum, Certificate in Advanced Psychotherapy (CAPP), Continuing Education, and the Community Psychotherapy Committees at SPSI. For the past three years, she has also served as the Coordinator of the SPSI Book Club.
Ms. Buell has worked as a psychotherapist since 1987. In that year she received her Masters of Science in Social Work from Columbia University School of Social Work. In 1993, she was board certified in clinical social work by the American Board of Examiners in Clinical Social Work. Also in 1993, she completed the Two-year Psychodynamic Psychotherapy Program of SPSI. A year later, she undertook a one year program on child psychoanalytic psychotherapy at SPSI, and in 1998, she completed the Summer Study Program of the Anna Freud Centre in London, England. In 2001, her Washington Sate licensure title was changed to Licensed Independent Social Work (LW 5281).
After completing the two SPSI post-masteršs programs, Ms. Buell completed a post-post masteršs course of study, graduating the Core program in Adult Psychoanalysis of the Seattle Psychoanalytic Society and Institute in 2002. She is certified by the American Psychoanalytic Association (APsaA) in Adult Psychoanalysis (www.apsa.org).
Her professional affiliations include full memberships in the American Psychoanalytic Association and International Psychoanalytic Association. In addition, she is a member of the National Association of Social Workers, Center for Object Relations and Northwest Family Development Center. Between 1996 and 1998, she served on the Ethics Committee of the Washington State Society for Clinical Social Work.
